Chapter 7 - A New Dawn at the Estate

Three weeks had passed since the stormy night that changed the Moretti household forever. The autumn chill had given way to crisp, golden sunlight that flooded the sprawling courtyards of the estate.

Inside the newly renovated east wing nursery, Elena Bellini adjusted the silk curtains while humming a gentle lullaby. The room was no longer just a bedroom; it was a sanctuary filled with handcrafted wooden toys, fine European linens, and the soft, rhythmic breathing of baby Lorenzo, who was growing stronger and healthier by the day.

Down the hall, Sophia sat at a large mahogany desk in her own private study room, working diligently on her school assignments. Thanks to Rocco’s direct orders, a private tutor had been brought in to ensure she received the finest education available—a privilege reserved only for the elite. Yet, despite her new clothes, her own room, and the security detail that quietly watched over her, Sophia remained the same grounded, kind-hearted girl who had rescued a newborn from the rain.

Rocco walked down the carpeted hallway, his heavy footsteps muffled. He stopped by the open door of the nursery, watching as Elena gently rocked Lorenzo in her arms.

"He's sleeping well today, Mr. Moretti," Elena whispered respectfully, turning around with a warm, grateful smile.

"Good," Rocco replied softly, stepping into the room and glancing down at his son. Lorenzo’s tiny fists were clenched peacefully near his face, his dark hair growing in thick and healthy. "You have taken exceptional care of him, Elena. My household is in your debt."

"You have given us everything, sir," Elena said, her eyes glistening with unspeakable gratitude. "We were invisible before that night. Now... we have a home, and safety."

Rocco nodded, then turned his gaze toward the hallway where Sophia was busy writing. He walked over to her desk, leaning slightly against the doorway.

"How are your lessons going, Sophia?" he asked.

Sophia looked up, smiling brightly. "I finished my mathematics, sir. The tutor said I solved the difficult equations correctly on the first try."

"I expected nothing less," Rocco said, a rare, genuine smile touching his lips. "When you finish your studies today, come down to the garden. I want to show you something."

Sophia’s eyes lit up with curiosity. "Is it a surprise, sir?"

"Let's call it a reward for a very observant young lady," Rocco replied with a soft chuckle before walking away toward his study.
