Chapter 7 - The Lion’s Wrath

"Well, well. Look what we have here," sneered Victor Moretti, the younger brother of the former capo Lorenzo had eliminated months ago. Victor held a submachine gun, his eyes burning with vindictive triumph as he looked down at Hunter and the baby.

"The maid and the bastard child," Victor laughed darkly. "Lorenzo killed my family for a mistake. Now I’m going to kill his whole world right here in this rat hole."

Hunter rolled onto her back, curling her entire body over Leo, who had awakened and begun to cry softly.

"If you harm him, Lorenzo will hunt you to the ends of the earth," Hunter hissed, staring at the gunman with fearless venom. "He will tear your life apart piece by piece."

"He won't get the chance," Victor raised his weapon, aiming it straight at Hunter’s back.

BANG.

A shot echoed through the narrow corridor, but it didn't come from Victor's gun.

Victor gasped, a bloody hole exploding through his throat. He dropped to his knees, his gun clattering to the floor, before slumping over dead.

Standing at the end of the corridor was Lorenzo. He was soaked in rain and covered in the blood of his enemies. His suit jacket was gone, his white shirt torn, his dark eyes filled with a terrifying, demonic fury. He dropped the empty magazine from his tactical weapon, slapped a fresh one in with a lightning-fast motion, and strode down the hallway like the God of Death himself.

He swept past the body of Victor without a second glance, falling to his knees beside Hunter.

"Hunter! Leo!" Lorenzo’s hands were shaking as he pulled them both into his massive arms, checking them frantically for injuries. "Are you hurt? Did he touch you?"

May you like

"We're okay... we're okay," Hunter sobbed, clutching Lorenzo's neck as Leo squirmed between them, reaching out his tiny hands to grab his father’s blood-stained collar. "You came back."

"I will always come back for you," Lorenzo swore, pressing his lips passionately to hers right there on the cold concrete floor, while his remaining forces swept through the mansion above, securing their absolute victory.
