Chapter 10 - The Garden of Life (Epilogue)

Five years later.
The Atlantic ocean sparkled under a warm afternoon sun. The Rossi estate was filled with the sound of children's laughter, music, and the delicious aroma of a family barbecue.
In the backyard, seven-year-old Leo was showing his little sister, four-year-old Lily—named in sacred memory of the daughter Hunter had lost—how to kick a soccer ball across the grass. Lily gasped with joy, her dark hair flying in the wind as she chased her older brother.
Standing on the sunlit terrace, Hunter watched them with a serene smile. She felt a pair of strong, familiar arms wrap around her waist from behind, and Lorenzo rested his chin comfortably on her shoulder.
"They're getting so big," Hunter said softly, leaning back against his chest.
"They have their mother's spirit," Lorenzo smiled, kissing the side of her neck. "Fierce, brave, and full of life."
Lorenzo’s transformation was complete. The feared mob boss had become a respected philanthropist, a devoted husband, and an adoring father. The dark past of the Rossi family was a closed chapter, replaced by a thriving, legitimate legacy that helped fund children's hospitals and neonatal care centers across the country.
Hunter looked down at her hand, where her wedding band caught the sunlight, and then looked out at her beautiful, thriving family.
She remembered the broken, desperate girl who had walked into this house years ago, bound in painful bandages and crushed by sorrow. She remembered the terrified father holding a gun in a dark nursery, caught in his own nightmare.
Love had not just saved them; it had rebuilt them from the ashes.
"What are you thinking about, my love?" Lorenzo asked gently, tightening his hold around her.
Hunter turned in his arms, wrapping her hands around his neck, looking up into the dark eyes that were now filled only with endless devotion.

"I was just thinking," Hunter smiled, her heart brimming with complete, perfect happiness, "that sometimes, the things we think are broken beyond repair just need the right heart to hold them."
Lorenzo smiled, leaning down to capture her lips in a tender, timeless kiss, while the laughter of their healthy children echoed across the sanctuary they had built together.
