Chapter 9 - The Sanctuary Built on Truth

Six months passed. The news of the Castiglione family's transformation spread throughout the country. The former mafia stronghold was now known simply as the Castiglione Sanctuary—a hub for charitable foundation work focused on child protection, medical advocacy, and supporting families affected by organized crime.

Renzo established the Santa Rosalia Accountability Project, an independent investigative unit dedicated to auditing private hospitals across Europe to prevent child trafficking and medical corruption. Dr. Vance and his co-conspirators were sentenced to life imprisonment, ensuring no other family would suffer the theft of a child.

To honor Ada’s bravery, Renzo established a permanent educational trust in her name and legally adopted Carmen and Ada as full members of the extended Castiglione family, ensuring they had equal standing and security for life.

On a warm afternoon in late May, a celebration was held on the estate lawn. Friends, legitimate business partners, and staff gathered to celebrate Mateo’s first baptism and Leo’s seventh birthday.

Leo ran across the grass holding a kite, with Ada chasing closely behind him, their laughter filling the clear sky. Carmen stood beside Renzo, watching the children with tears of happiness in her eyes.

"I never imagined this house could feel like a home, Mr. Castiglione," Carmen said softly.

"Call me Renzo, Carmen," he replied with a gentle smile. "And it is a home because your daughter had the courage to listen when everyone else was blind."
