Chapter 10 - The Happy Ending Under a Starry Sky

One year after that terrifying night in the hospital, Claire and I stood together on the balcony of our new home by the coast. The salty breeze carried the sound of gentle waves rolling onto the shore below.

Claire looked up at me, wearing a cozy blue sweater, her eyes shining under the blanket of evening stars. "Mommy, do we ever have to go back to the hospital?" she asked softly, leaning against my side.

I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close, feeling the steady, healthy rhythm of her heartbeat. "Never again, my love," I whispered, kissing the top of her head. "We are safe, we are free, and we have all the time in the world."

She smiled, pointing up at a particularly bright constellation. "Look, Mommy. That star looks like it's watching over us."

"It is, sweetheart," I said, smiling as a tear of pure joy slipped down my cheek. "It's Grandma, making sure we fly as high as we want."

We stood there together under the vast, beautiful sky, knowing that no matter what storms had tried to break us, love, truth, and resilience had won the day. Our happily ever after had finally begun.
