Chapter 7 - A Mother’s Silent Watch

Elena knew the exact moment Vanessa left. Her investigators kept her fully informed. She read the reports of Daniel’s hard work, his humility at his new job, and how he lovingly cared for Liam every single night after twelve-hour shifts.

Miriam entered Elena's office with a cup of tea. "He’s changed, Elena. He’s not the boy who stood by the window with folded arms anymore. He’s the boy you raised before the money corrupted him."

Elena looked at a photograph on her desk—a young Daniel holding a makeshift trophy from a school science fair, both of them beaming with joy.

"A diamond is only formed under immense pressure, Miriam," Elena said, a tear glistening in her eye. "My son was turning into coal. I had to apply the pressure. But a mother’s love doesn't destroy; it refines."
