Chapter 4 - The Collapse of the Kingdom

Over the next two weeks, Elena’s silent strike intensified. Without Apex Holdings' backing, Daniel’s tech company began to implode. Clients, sensing blood in the water, began canceling contracts. The board of directors, loyal only to profit, realized that Daniel had alienated the true financial titan behind the brand.

Elena sat in her high-rise office, looking elegant in a tailored charcoal suit, her silver hair perfectly coiffed. Miriam walked in, dropping a folder on her desk.

"Daniel is begging for an emergency board meeting," Miriam said. "The board is ready to oust him to save the company. They want to know your terms."

Elena looked out the window at the city. "Tell the board I will personally inject the necessary capital to stabilize the company under one condition: Daniel is terminated immediately. He is stripped of his title, his remaining shares are bought out at baseline value—which is pennies right now—and he is banned from the premises."

"And Vanessa?" Miriam asked.

"Vanessa wanted a wealthy man," Elena said softly. "Let’s see if she loves the man who has nothing."

The next day, Daniel was publicly fired from the very company that bore his name. The news made the front page of the financial financial press: “Tech Prodigy Ousted by Anonymous Parent Group.”

When Daniel returned to the dingy apartment with his cardboard box of personal desk items, Vanessa didn't comfort him. She screamed at him, throwing a vase against the wall. The illusion of their perfect, arrogant life was shattered.
