Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

The night brought a cool, crisp ocean breeze that danced through the open windows of their home.

Inside, a fire crackled warmly in the stone fireplace, casting a golden glow over the cozy living room. Rosa had visited earlier in the week, filling the kitchen with the rich, comforting aromas of traditional Italian cooking before returning to her own family, leaving the couple in complete, beautiful isolation.

Marco led Nora to the center of the room, where a low, smooth melody was playing softly from the speakers. Without a word, he took her right hand, his fingers intertwining with hers, while his left hand rested firmly on the small of her back.

They swayed together in a slow, effortless rhythm. There were no secrets between them anymore. No hidden wires, no false names, no double lives. Everything had been stripped away, leaving only the raw, undeniable truth of what they had become to one another.

Marco stopped dancing, holding her close as he reached into his jacket pocket. He pulled out a small, velvet box.

Nora’s breath hitched as he opened it, revealing a stunning, delicate gold ring set with a brilliant, deep green emerald—the color of the pine trees surrounding their sanctuary.

"This belonged to my grandmother," Marco said, his voice husky with an emotion he rarely showed. "She always told me that a Cavaliere man only gives this ring when he finds the woman who is strong enough to stand beside him through the fire. Nora... you are my home. Will you stay by my side forever?"

Tears of pure, unadulterated happiness welled in Nora's eyes. She looked at the ring, then up at the man who had shattered her world only to build a beautiful, honest new one from the pieces.

"Yes," she whispered, her voice fierce and certain. "Always."

As Marco slipped the ring onto her finger, he leaned down, pressing his lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their vows. The storm had passed, the shadows had vanished, and ahead of them lay a bright, beautiful dawn built on a love that had defied every law, every rule, and every expectation.
