Chapter 10 - The Horizon Ahead

Five years after the wedding, the Caleb Cross Foundation had grown into the most respected civil rights and corporate accountability institution on the East Coast. Its legal victories were studied in law schools across the country, and its name stood as a permanent deterrent to the corrupt elite who once believed themselves above the law.
On a warm Friday evening in Manhattan, the penthouse overlooking Central Park was quiet save for the soft strains of a jazz record playing on the turntable.
Sienna Vance sat on the wide outdoor terrace, a warm woolen blanket draped over her lap, looking out at the glittering ocean of city lights. Her phone rested on the table beside a cup of chamomile tea, silent and devoid of emergencies.
Footsteps echoed softly on the hardwood behind her, and a moment later, Damian stepped out onto the terrace, carrying two crystal glasses of aged Macallan. He handed one to her before wrapping his arms around her from behind, resting his chin comfortably on her shoulder.
"Working late, Counselor?" he asked playfully, nodding toward the empty desk inside.
"Never," Sienna smiled, leaning back into his embrace, her fingers resting over his hands. "Just enjoying the view. It's been a quiet week."
"Quiet is good," Damian murmured, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. "Quiet means we won."
Sienna turned in his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck, looking up into the dark, steady eyes that had once scrutinized her like a puzzle piece in a dangerous game. Now, those eyes held only warmth, absolute trust, and a shared future that stretched out endlessly before them.
"Do you remember the night you found me behind the bar?" Sienna asked softly, a nostalgic smile playing on her lips. "When you told me I was a bomb with the timer ticking down?"
Damian chuckled, a deep, rich sound that vibrated against her chest. "I remember thinking you were the most dangerous, fascinating woman I had ever laid eyes on. And I was right."

"We didn't blow up the city, Damian," she whispered, her voice filled with quiet triumph. "We just cleaned house."
"And we're just getting started," he replied, kissing her deeply under the canopy of Manhattan stars, where two people who had once hunted in the shadows had finally found their way home to the light, together, forever.
