Chapter 10 - The Brightest Horizon

Ten years later.
The morning sun filtered through the grand arched windows of the Vance estate, casting a golden glow across the polished oak floors.
In the east wing, a sixteen-year-old girl with bright, intelligent eyes and a confident smile adjusted her collar in front of the mirror, smoothing down her debate team blazer. Next to her, a sturdy, bright-eyed ten-year-old boy was aggressively tying his soccer cleats while arguing loudly about a video game strategy.
"Hurry up, Leo, or Dad is going to be late for his corporate board meeting!" Sofia called out, grabbing her backpack.
"I'm ready, I'm ready!" Leo groaned, scrambling to his feet.
They rushed down the grand staircase into the foyer, where Marcelo—now fifty-five, with silver streaks at his temples but the same unwavering, powerful presence—was waiting with two travel mugs and his car keys.
"Morning, kids," Marcelo said, handing Sofia her favorite vanilla oat milk latte and Leo his apple juice box. "Ready to conquer the world today?"
"Always, Dad," Sofia said with a grin, kissing him on the cheek.
As they walked out the front doors toward the waiting luxury sedan where Tiago held the door open with a warm smile, Marcelo paused for a fraction of a second. He looked back at the grand foyer, remembering the broken, dusty shoes, the torn blanket, and the terrified little girl hiding in a ruined construction site a decade ago.
Life had given him a wound that money could never close.

And then, through grace and courage, life had given him something far greater: a family.
Marcelo smiled, wrapped his arms around his children as they piled into the car, and drove forward into the brightest horizon of their lives.
