Chapter 9 - The Celebration of Life

Three months later, the grounds of the Moretti estate were transformed into a fairy-tale garden. White silk tents fluttered in the gentle summer breeze, golden lanterns hung from the branches of the ancient oak trees, and flower arches made of white roses and jasmine lined the center aisle of the lawn.

It was the wedding of Gabriel Moretti and Emma Vance.

Guests from all walks of life filled the seating area—reformed business leaders, city officials, former teachers, and families from the newly opened pediatric center. Security was present, but they wore classic tuxedos and carried light smiles, no longer guarding against an enemy, but celebrating a union.

Inside the bride’s room, Emma stood before a full-length mirror, wearing an elegant A-line wedding dress with delicate lace sleeves and a flowing train. Her hair was styled in soft waves, pinned back with a pearl hairpiece.

The door opened, and Marco stepped in, wearing an immaculate suit with a boutonnieres on his lapel.

"Miss Emma," Marco said, his voice rough with emotion. "It’s time."

"How does Gabriel look?" Emma asked, smiling through her nerves.

"The boss has been pacing the altar for twenty minutes," Marco chuckled. "I’ve seen him face rival families without blinking, but today he looks like a nervous teenager. It’s a good look for him."

Emma laughed softly, gathering her bouquet of white lilies and yellow roses.

When the music began—a soft, beautiful arrangement of strings—the double doors to the terrace opened, and Emma walked out onto the stone steps.

At the end of the long white aisle stood Gabriel. He wore a crisp black tuxedo with a white bowtie, looking every bit the noble gentleman. When his eyes met Emma's, a breath escaped his lips, his expression one of pure, unadulterated adoration.

Beside Gabriel stood the two flower girls.

Sophia was proudly throwing handfuls of pink rose petals onto the runner, bouncing with every step.

And walking right beside her, holding a basket of yellow petals in one hand and walking with flawless grace and balance, was Lily.

She didn't stumble. She didn't hesitate. She walked down the long aisle with her head held high, smiling brightly at the cheering guests.

When Emma reached the altar, Gabriel stepped forward and took her hand. They didn't hear the minister’s opening words; they only saw each other, two souls who had found light in the darkest corners of their lives.

"I take you, Emma," Gabriel spoke his vows, his voice echoing clearly through the quiet garden, "to be my wife, my partner, and my home. I promise to cherish you, to stand by you in every storm, and to love you with every beat of my heart for all eternity."

"I take you, Gabriel," Emma responded, tears glistening in her eyes, "to be my husband, my protector, and my true love. I promise to build a home with you filled with laughter, to stand with you through every challenge, and to walk beside you, hand in hand, forever."

"By the authority vested in me," the minister announced with a warm smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Gabriel, you may kiss your bride."

May you like

Gabriel pulled Emma into his arms, dipping her slightly as he kissed her deeply, amidst the thunderous applause and cheers of their family and friends.

Sophia and Lily cheered louder than anyone, throwing their remaining rose petals into the air.
