Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Circle

Two years later.
Late at night, the Moretti estate was quiet, bathed in the soft blue light of a clear summer moon.
In the master bedroom, Gabriel woke up quietly. He looked beside him; the bed was empty.
Smiling to himself, he threw on a silk robe and walked softly down the dimly lit hallway toward the nursery.
He stopped at the open doorway, leaning against the wooden frame, watching the feed on his phone—not out of suspicion, but out of habit, loving the way security technology now captured moments of pure peace.
Inside the dimly lit room, Emma was sitting in a plush rocking chair near the window. In her arms, she held a three-month-old baby boy—their son, Leo—who was fast asleep after his late-night feeding.
Sitting on the rug beside the rocking chair were four-year-old Lily and Sophia, wrapped in their cozy pajamas.
"Is he sleeping, Mommy?" Lily whispered softly, looking up at her brother.
"Yes, my sweet girl," Emma whispered back, gently brushing a soft tuft of dark hair from the baby's forehead. "He’s fast asleep."
"Will he learn to walk soon?" Sophia asked eagerly. "I want to teach him how to run fast!"
"He has a long time before he needs to run, Sophia," Emma smiled gently. "First, he has to learn how to stand. And when he’s ready, he has the two best big sisters in the world to help him."
Lily smiled proudly, standing up gracefully from the floor and wrapping her small arms around Emma’s knee, resting her head against her mother’s lap. "I’ll show him how to take the first step, Mommy. Just like you showed me."
Gabriel stepped into the room, his soft footfalls quiet on the carpet. He walked up behind the rocking chair, placing his hands on Emma’s shoulders and kissing the top of her head.
Lily looked up and giggled softly, reaching up to wrap her small hand around her father’s thumb.
Gabriel looked down at his wife, his two thriving daughters, and his healthy newborn son. The cameras in the hallway were still running, recording every angle of the house. But there were no secrets left to find, no hidden threats to monitor, and no pain left to heal.
The mafia boss who had once installed cameras to watch a stranger had found the one thing money could never buy—a home built on trust, a love that knew no boundaries, and a miracle that began with a single, courageous step.
"I love you, Emma," Gabriel whispered into the quiet night.

Emma leaned her head back against his chest, looking up into his dark eyes with complete peace.
"I love you too, Gabriel," she replied softly. "We're home."
