Chapter 8 - Reclaiming the Legacy

Two years passed. The Vance-Harlow International annual gala was held at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.
Claire Vance, now Executive Vice Chairwoman, was the guest of honor. Wearing a floor-length emerald green silk gown, she walked into the grand ballroom to a standing ovation.
Standing beside her was Dr. Julian Croft, a renowned pediatric neurosurgeon and founder of a global children's medical charity. Julian was a kind, brilliant man who had entered Claire’s life eighteen months prior. Unlike Daniel, Julian had loved Claire long before he ever realized she was Arthur Vance’s daughter—having met her at a children's shelter where she was volunteering incognito.
“You look breathtaking tonight,” Julian whispered softly into her ear.
At the main table, Arthur sat holding toddler Lily on his lap. When Arthur stood up to address the crowd, he raised his champagne glass.
“Thirty years ago, I founded this company with a vision of excellence,” Arthur announced. “But my proudest achievement has never been stock value. My proudest achievement is sitting right beside me—my daughter, Claire.”
The crowd applauded warmly.
“Today, I am proud to announce my official retirement as CEO, and the unanimous decision of the Board of Directors to appoint Claire Vance as the new Chief Executive Officer of Vance-Harlow International!”

The applause exploded across the ballroom. Claire hugged her father, then picked up little Lily, who beamed with pride and clapped her tiny hands.
“Mama CEO!” Lily cheered happily into the microphone, causing the entire room to erupt in joyful laughter.
