Chapter 9 - The Mediterranean Wedding

Three months later, the wedding of the decade took place not in Ravenport, but on a private clifftop estate overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Italy.
The media frenzy had been unprecedented. Headlines across the globe dubbed it the ultimate union of power and grace—the ruthless king of Ravenport claiming the brilliant woman who had brought down a corrupt mayor. But on the sun-drenched terrace overlooking the sparkling blue water, none of that mattered.
Elena stood in a gown of white Chantilly lace and shimmering silk, her veil catching the gentle sea breeze. Her heart raced with a quiet, joyful anticipation as the string quartet began to play the processional march.
As she walked down the floral-lined aisle, she saw him waiting for her beneath an arch of white roses. Adrian wore a tailored ivory tuxedo jacket, looking every bit the sovereign ruler of his empire, but when his eyes met hers, the cold edge vanished, replaced entirely by a soft, profound warmth that made her feel like she was the only person in the world.
When she reached his side, Adrian took her hands in his. His fingers were warm, steady, and strong.
"You look breathtaking," he murmured, his voice husky with emotion.
"You don't look so bad yourself, Mr. Vale," she teased softly, a bright smile breaking across her face.
The minister smiled warmly and began the ceremony, but to Elena and Adrian, the words blurred into a beautiful background symphony. When the time came for the vows, Adrian spoke his with a fierce, unwavering conviction that sealed their souls together.
"With this ring, I thee wed," Adrian said, sliding a thick platinum band encrusted with rare diamonds onto her finger, right beside the engagement ring he had given her on that unforgettable night in the ballroom.
"And with this ring, I give you my heart," Elena responded, slipping her own band onto his finger.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the minister declared. "You may kiss the bride."
Adrian didn't wait. He pulled her flush against his chest, dipping her slightly as his lips met hers in a deep, passionate, and triumphant kiss that made the gathered guests cheer and applaud.
