Chapter 10 - Forever Mine

That evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the Mediterranean sky in strokes of brilliant orange, pink, and deep indigo, Elena stood on the private balcony of their villa.
A gentle pair of arms wrapped around her waist from behind, pulling her back against a solid, familiar chest. The scent of cedar and clean rain mingled with the sea breeze.
Adrian rested his chin gently on her shoulder, looking out at the glittering expanse of water below them.
"Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Vale?" he whispered against her ear.
Elena leaned back into his embrace, a soft, contented smile curving her lips. She looked down at the twin rings sparkling on her left hand—symbols of a past she had survived, and a future she had earned.
"I was just thinking about how crazy it is," Elena said softly. "If my car hadn't broken down that night... if you hadn't pulled me out of the way of that speeding sedan... I never would have known any of this."
Adrian tightened his arms around her, turning her gently so she could look up into his striking gray eyes.
"It wasn't luck, Elena," Adrian said, his voice low and intensely serious. "From the very first moment I saw you in that restaurant, I knew my life was about to change. I would have torn Ravenport apart brick by brick to keep you safe."
Elena reached up, her fingers tracing the sharp line of his jawline. "You almost did."
Adrian chuckled, a rich, genuine sound that he reserved only for her. He pressed a tender kiss to her forehead, then to her lips.

"And I’d do it again in a heartbeat," he whispered against her mouth.
Down below, the waves crashed gently against the rocky shore, singing a lullaby of peace and unending devotion. The shadows of the past were gone, replaced by the brilliant, unbroken light of a future they would build together—forever.
