Chapter 10 - A Peaceful Future

The private terrace of the Blackthorne penthouse overlooked Central Park, now dusted with the first delicate flakes of winter snow. The city lights twinkled like a million scattered diamonds across the Manhattan grid below.

The chaos of the bomb threat, the warehouse raid, and the corporate coup felt like a lifetime away. Sloane Avery was currently standing trial in a federal district court, facing decades behind bars with no possibility of parole, while Conrad's assets were being systematically liquidated to pay restitution to the victims of his compliance division's illegal operations.

Inside the warm, quiet apartment, Maya had finally fallen asleep in her own room, clutching a stuffed teddy bear that Julian had bought her during their first weekend trip together to Boston.

Hannah and Julian stood wrapped in a heavy cashmere blanket on the terrace, watching the snow drift down through the amber glow of the terrace lamps.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Julian asked softly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

Hannah smiled, leaning her head against his chest as she felt the steady, reassuring beat of his heart. "I was just thinking about that rainy night at Belladonna’s. If Maya hadn't walked in with that purple backpack, where would we be right now?"

Julian tightened his arms around her, pulling her close against the cold winter air.

"We would have found you eventually, Hannah," he said with absolute conviction. "Nothing in this world could have kept me apart from my family once I knew you were out there."

"Even a bomb threat?" she teased gently.

"Especially a bomb threat," Julian chuckled, kissing her lips tenderly as the snow fell softly around them, sealing a happy ending that was hard-won, absolute, and eternal.
