Chapter 8 - The Power of Trust

As months turned into years, our bond grew stronger and more natural. The shadows of the past faded into distant memories, replaced by milestones and shared achievements.
On Mia's eighth birthday, we celebrated with a small party surrounded by close friends, neighbors, and supportive family members. Watching her blow out her birthday candles with a genuine, bright smile was a powerful reminder of how far we had come.
That evening, while packing up her school materials for the next day, Mia brought her school binder to the dining table. Tucked inside was a drawing she had made during art class that afternoon. It depicted the two of us standing in front of our house under a bright yellow sun, holding hands.
At the bottom of the page, in her neat child's handwriting, she had written: "My Dad, my hero."

"I love you, Daddy," she said, hugging me tightly. "Thank you for listening to me when I was scared."
