Chapter 6 - A New Dawn for Arden House
True to Sophia's word, Grant Hart was convicted of both domestic assault and corporate fraud, receiving a lengthy prison sentence. Celeste, left penniless and ostracized by the high society that had once been her oxygen, was forced to downsize to a tiny, rented studio apartment on the outskirts of the city, forgotten by everyone she had ever sought to impress.
With the past firmly behind her, Sophia decided that Arden House needed to shed its dark legacy. It was no longer a monument to old, arrogant money.
She hired an army of contractors to tear down the oppressive, cold marble structures and replace them with warm wood, large glass windows, and vibrant gardens. The grand dining room, where the disastrous donor dinner had taken place, was completely transformed into a state-of-the-art playroom and learning center for Wren.
Sophia also officially took the reins of the Vance Foundation. Her first major initiative was the creation of "The Wren Foundation"—a sanctuary and legal defense fund for victims of domestic abuse who felt trapped by their spouses' financial control.
On the day of the foundation's opening, Sophia stood on the grand pavilion, looking out at hundreds of smiling guests, genuine friends, and families who had been helped by her work.
