Chapter 9 - A Second Chance at Love

Three years passed.

The storm of the past had completely cleared, leaving behind a sky full of sunshine and promise.

Marcus Henderson served two years in prison for financial fraud, emerging broke, disgraced, and forgotten, working an entry-level manual job in a distant city just to survive. Roxanne had fallen into obscurity, forced to work long hours to pay off her mounting personal debts.

In contrast, Julianne’s life flourished beyond measure. Under her brilliant leadership, Kingsbridge Global expanded into global renewable energy, winning accolades across Europe and Asia.

More importantly, love had quietly returned to her life.

Alexander Vance had stayed by her side through every challenge—not as a savior, but as a true equal and partner. He adored Leo and Maya, spending weekends teaching Leo how to draw architectural blueprints and attending Maya’s dance recitals with immense pride.

On a warm summer evening on the coast of Southern France, Alexander took Julianne’s hand as they walked along the white sandy beach during sunset.

He stopped, pulling a small velvet box from his jacket pocket. Inside sat an exquisite ring featuring a rare blue diamond that mirrored the ocean waves.

"Julianne," Alexander said softly, looking into her eyes with deep warmth and honesty. "You are the strongest, most remarkable woman I have ever known. I don't want to complete you—you are already complete on your own. But I want to stand beside you, build a world with you, and love you and the children for the rest of my days. Will you marry me?"

Julianne looked at the ocean, feeling the gentle sea breeze against her skin. The painful memories of her past marriage felt like a distant dream, erased by years of love, respect, and peace.

With tears of pure joy in her eyes, she smiled brightly.

"Yes, Alexander. Yes!"
