Chapter 8 - Reckoning and Retribution

Marcus stepped forward, reaching out a hand. "Arthur! Tell Julianne I'm here! Let me see my children! I miss them!"
Arthur held up a gloved hand, stopping Marcus in his tracks. His expression was as cold as ice.
"Mr. Henderson, Lady Julianne has no interest in seeing you," Arthur stated sternly. "You were permitted entry onto the grounds solely to receive these official documents in person."
Arthur nodded to a security guard, who handed Marcus a thick legal file.
"What is this?" Marcus asked, his voice shaking.
"This is a formal Restraining Order issued by the High Court of London," Arthur explained clearly. "You and your sister are strictly prohibited from coming within five hundred yards of Lady Julianne or her children. Furthermore, this second document contains criminal charges filed against you by the International Financial Crimes Unit."
Roxanne gasped. "Financial crimes? We didn't commit any crimes!"
"During your tenure as CEO of Henderson Group, Mr. Henderson, you embezzled over three million dollars from funds that were backed by Kingsbridge assets," Arthur stated firmly. "Lady Julianne has authorized our legal team to prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. British authorities are coordinating with U.S. federal prosecutors as we speak."
Marcus dropped the folder, the white sheets scattering across the wet pavement. "No... no! Julianne can't do this to me! I'm the father of her children!"
At that moment, a sleek black Rolls-Royce pulled up to the main steps. The rear door opened, and Julianne stepped out, wearing a tailored navy-blue suit and gold jewelry that sparkled in the afternoon light. She looked breathtakingly beautiful, powerful, and utterly out of his reach.
"Julianne!" Marcus screamed, trying to push past the security guards. "Julianne, please! I was wrong! Penelope tricked me! I still love you! Give me another chance!"
Julianne stopped. She turned slowly and looked down at Marcus from the marble steps. Her eyes contained no hatred, no anger—only a cold, absolute indifference that cut deeper than any knife.
"You didn't lose everything because of Penelope, Marcus," Julianne said softly, her voice carrying clearly across the courtyard. "You lost everything because of your own greed, arrogance, and cruelty. You traded a faithful family for a lie, and now you must live with the consequences."
"Julianne, please! What about Leo and Maya?" Marcus wept, falling to his knees.

"My children have a real family now," Julianne replied firmly. "And a mother who will protect them forever."
She turned her back on him and walked into the grand estate. The heavy oak doors swung shut, locking Marcus out in the cold forever.
