Chapter 8 - The Fall of Adrian Vale

The trial of Adrian Vale was swift, brutal, and highly publicized.
With the sheer weight of the Vance family's legal resources and the mountains of forensic evidence against him, there was no room for defense. Adrian’s own associates lined up to testify against him, eager to save themselves from sharing his fate.
Evelyn sat in the front row of the courtroom every day, flanked by her parents. She wore simple, elegant suits, looking like the embodiment of quiet dignity.
When the verdict was read, Adrian was found guilty on all counts of grand larceny, bank fraud, and identity theft. The judge, noting his complete lack of remorse and his desperate attempt to breach the Vance estate, sentenced him to fifteen years in a federal maximum-security prison, with no possibility of parole for the first ten.
As he was led away in his orange jumpsuit, his hands shackled to his waist, Adrian turned to look at Evelyn one last time. He looked hollow, aged, and utterly broken.
Evelyn didn't even blink. She simply turned her head, offering a warm smile to her mother, who squeezed her hand in reassurance.
Celeste Monroe fared no better. While she avoided heavy prison time by cooperating with the prosecution, she was forced to surrender every single piece of luxury merchandise, jewelry, and cash Adrian had given her. Stripped of her status, her wealthy lifestyle, and her reputation, she was forced to move back into her parents' modest suburban home, completely blacklisted from high society. No reputable company would hire her, and she became a cautionary tale whispered about at the very country clubs she had once dreamed of ruling.
The penthouse was sold at a public auction, with the proceeds going directly into a trust fund set up for Logan, Lucas, and Liam.
With the legal battles finally over, Evelyn stood on the balcony of her parents’ estate, watching the sunset cast a golden glow over the valley.

"It's over, my love," Alistair Vance said, walking up beside his daughter and placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "The shadow is gone. Your future is entirely yours to write."
Evelyn smiled, a deep, profound sense of peace settling over her. "No, Father. It's not just my future. It's our future."
