Chapter 7 - The Grand Celebration

The autumn leaves turned golden and crimson across Chicago, painting the Rosetti estate in a breathtaking palette of warmth. Exactly six months after Lena found Lily in that dark, rain-soaked alley, the iron gates of the mansion swung wide open for a very different reason.

Tonight was the annual charity gala hosted by the Rosetti Foundation — a massive event bringing together city officials, prominent business leaders, and philanthropists. But tonight, it was also something much more personal: a celebration of new beginnings.

Inside the grand ballroom, crystal chandeliers glittered overhead, casting sparkling reflections across marble floors polished to a mirror finish. A string quartet played softly from a raised dais, filling the air with classical melodies.

Lena stood in front of the massive gilded mirror in her dressing room, staring at her reflection in utter disbelief. The gown she wore was a masterpiece of ivory silk and delicate lace, custom-designed in Milan, hugging her figure gracefully. A diamond necklace, gift from Dominic, rested against her collarbone like a constellation of stars.

Mrs. Bellamy adjusted the train of the dress with a proud smile, her eyes misty. "You look breathtaking, my dear. Mr. Rosetti is the luckiest man in Chicago."

"Thank you, Mrs. Bellamy. I still feel like I'm going to wake up in my old apartment," Lena confessed, a nervous flutter in her stomach.

"Nonsense," the older woman chuckled affectionately. "You earned every bit of this happiness."

A gentle knock sounded at the door, and Lily popped her head into the room. She was wearing a matching mini-ivory dress, looking like a little angel with a flower crown resting on her blonde curls.

"Lena! Daddy says it's time!" Lily squealed, running over to hug Lena's waist. "You look like a princess!"

"And you look like a queen, sweetheart," Lena laughed, kneeling down to fix Lily's flower crown. "Are you ready for the party?"

"I'm ready! Everyone's downstairs, and there's a huge chocolate fountain!"

Dominic appeared in the doorway, leaning against the frame with his hands in his pockets. He wore a tailored black tuxedo that accentuated his broad shoulders and commanding presence. But the moment his eyes landed on Lena, all the ice in his expression melted away completely.

He walked across the room, offering his hand. "Ready to face the world with me, Lena?"

May you like

Lena placed her hand in his, feeling the familiar warmth of his grip. "Always."

As they descended the grand staircase together, with Lily skipping ahead holding their hands, the murmurs of the crowded ballroom died down. Hundreds of eyes turned toward them. But there was no fear in the room tonight — only awe, respect, and celebration. Dominic Rosetti had found his light, and Lena Marks had found her home.
