Chapter 10 - Forever and Always
Ten years later.
The sun shone brightly over the grand lawns of the Rosetti estate, illuminating a scene of pure joy and celebration. Streamers hung from the old oak trees, and laughter echoed across the courtyard where a massive gathering of friends, family, and community members had assembled.
Today was a double celebration: Lily's seventeenth birthday, and the official grand opening of the fifth Eva Rosetti Community Center in downtown Chicago, an event that had helped thousands of people escape poverty and homelessness over the past decade.
Lena stood near the wolf fountain, wearing a elegant emerald-green summer dress. She watched with a proud smile as Lily — now a stunning, confident young woman with the same striking silver-blue eyes — gave a heartfelt speech to the crowd about resilience, kindness, and never giving up hope.
Strong, familiar arms wrapped around Lena's waist from behind, and a warm kiss was planted on her cheek.
"She looks so much like her mother," Dominic whispered, his hair now touched with distinguished silver at the temples, though his frame remained as powerful and imposing as ever.
"She has your stubbornness and your heart, too," Lena smiled, leaning back against him. "Can you believe it's been ten years?"
"Every single day of it has been the best of my life," Dominic replied, turning her to face him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box, clicking it open. Inside rested a delicate silver bracelet with a wolf's head charm, identical to the one Lily had worn that fateful night, except this one gleamed with a brand-new set of diamonds alongside the garnets.
"What's this for?" Lena asked, her eyes welling with happy tears.
"A reminder," Dominic said softly, sliding the bracelet onto her wrist. "That the best thing that ever happened to the Rosetti family started with a waitress who had eight dollars in her pocket and a heart too big to walk away."
