Chapter 10 - The Sound of Forever

That evening, the Westbrook estate was filled with the sounds of a real home.
In the sunlit backyard garden, the newly built wooden birdhouse hung proudly from the lowest branch of the giant oak tree. A pair of small sparrows had already landed on its roof, chirping loudly in the twilight.
Ellie and Ben sat on the grass below, clapping their hands as the birds darted away into the evening sky.
A few feet away, standing on the stone patio overlooking the lawn, Logan and Claire watched the children play. The warm breeze rustled the autumn leaves, carrying the distant hum of the city, the laughter of children, and the quiet rustle of the garden coming to life.
Claire leaned her head gently against Logan’s shoulder, breathing in the scent of pine and old leather.
"You know," Claire murmured softly, her fingers intertwining with his, "you came into my life as a temporary security guard earning seventeen dollars an hour."
Logan chuckled, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close. "Best seventeen-dollar investment I ever made."
"You didn't just save my company, Logan," Claire whispered, looking up into his eyes with a deep, unbreakable devotion. "You gave me my daughter back. You gave us our lives back."
"I just followed the evidence," Logan replied with a gentle smile. "And listened to my heart."
Ellie ran across the lawn toward them, her yellow jacket catching the last rays of the golden sunset.
"Mom! Dad! Come look! A butterfly!" Ellie shouted, her voice ringing out clear, bright, and full of unbridled joy.
