Chapter 3 - The Impact

"What are you smiling about, you delusional psycho?" Julian snarled, taking a threatening step forward as if he wanted to finish what he started. "The shock must have broken your fragile little mind."

2:00 PM.

The transformation of the room was instantaneous.

It didn't start with a bang; it started with a low, bone-deep rumble that vibrated straight through the marble floorboards. The crystal champagne flutes stacked on the silver trays began to chatter and dance. Before anyone could process the tremor, the unmistakable, overlapping wail of a dozen police and tactical sirens tore through the peaceful suburban afternoon.

Instantly followed by an ungodly, window-rattling roar.

Two heavy FBI helicopters broke cover from behind the tree line, descending directly over the estate's glass solarium. The rotor wash blasted hurricane-force winds through the open patio doors, sending linen tablecloths, expensive floral arrangements, and high-society hats flying into the air.

"What is that? What's happening?!" a prominent local senator shrieked, dropping his glass of vintage merlot onto the Persian rug.

Before Arthur could even open his mouth to bark orders at his private security detail, the heavy oak front doors of the estate exploded inward. Splintering wood rained down across the foyer.

"FBI! Nobody move! Hands where we can see them! Drop everything!"

Dozens of federal agents in full tactical gear—heavy vests, helmets, and assault rifles—poured into the grand hall like a human wave. The elite guests screamed in absolute terror, dropping to their knees and throwing their hands over their heads. High-society women wept into designer handbags; wealthy CEOs flattened themselves against the cold marble floor.

Julian froze. The arrogant smirk on his face drained away, leaving behind a pale, shaking mask of sheer, unadulterated panic. He dropped Chloe's arm as if she had suddenly turned to hot coals.

"What... what is this?" Julian stammered, looking wildly around the room. "My father is a personal friend of the governor! This is a mistake!"

A tall, broad-shouldered man in a sharp dark suit strode through the sea of tactical vests, holding a thick, leather-bound folder. He didn't look at the screaming guests; his eyes locked straight onto the Vance family circle.

"Arthur Vance, Beatrice Vance, and Julian Vance," the lead agent announced, his voice carrying over the chaos with terrifying clarity. "You are under arrest for racketeering, wire fraud, severe tax evasion, and conspiracy to commit money laundering."
