Chapter 9 - Justice and Redemption

By sunrise, the grand Beverly Hills estate was swarming with LAPD cruisers, forensic investigators, and crime scene technicians.

Vanessa Caldwell sat handcuffed in the back of a police squad car, staring blankly out the window as officers cataloged the poisoned formula bottles and downloaded the master digital archive from the estate's servers. Dr. Keller was rushed back to the mansion, where he immediately arranged for baby Diego to be given an antidote and specialized gastric flush.

By afternoon, the hospital confirmed the incredible news: little Diego was out of danger, his tiny body clearing the toxins completely, and he was expected to make a full, miraculous recovery.

In the sunlit kitchen of the Whitmore estate, Sebastian stood before Elena. The billionaire looked older, worn down by the shock of betrayal, but profound gratitude shone in his eyes.

"I don't even know how to begin to thank you, Elena," Sebastian said, his voice thick with emotion. "You saved my son's life. And you brought peace to my wife's memory. You risked everything to do what was right."

"I’m a mother, Mr. Whitmore," Elena replied softly, wiping down the marble counter. "I only did what any parent would do."

Sebastian reached into his tailored suit jacket and pulled out a heavy, thick document folder, placing it gently on the counter.

"That is a trust fund established for your daughter Lily's complete medical care, education, and future, fully funded and secure," Sebastian said firmly, silencing Elena's incoming protest with a raised hand. "Furthermore, I want you to stay here—not just as a cook, but as the head of estate management and family care, with a salary that will ensure you and Lily never have to worry about a single bill for the rest of your lives."

Elena stared at the folder, tears finally spilling over her lashes—not tears of fear or desperation, but tears of pure, unadulterated relief. Her daughter’s future was secure.
