Chapter 7 - The Trial of the Billionaire’s Estate

Sebastian stared at Elena, shock and betrayal warring across his features.
"Elena?" Sebastian breathed, his voice heavy with disbelief. "Is this true? You broke into my son's nursery?"
"Mr. Whitmore, listen to me," Elena said urgently, stepping forward with the bottle extended. "Don't listen to her. This bottle is poisoned. Look at the seal—she cut it. She's the one trying to kill your son, just like she killed your wife Caroline!"
The word Caroline hung in the air like a detonation.
Sebastian flinched as if struck. His face drained of color, his jaw clenching so hard muscles ticked in his cheek. "What did you just say?"
"She tampered with the brakes on Caroline's car, Mr. Whitmore, and now she's putting crystalline toxins into Diego's milk to make it look like a chronic medical condition. Ask her why she told her phone caller yesterday to get rid of the remaining formula!"
Vanessa covered her mouth with her hands, sobbing convincingly. "Sebastian, she's insane! She must have a psychotic break! Look at her, she's accusing me of murder because she got caught stealing or vandalizing the nursery! Please, security! Get her out of this house right now!"
For a tense moment, Sebastian stood frozen between them. His eyes shifted from Vanessa’s practiced tears to Elena’s fierce, unwavering gaze. He was a man accustomed to analyzing financial data, reading people, and sniffing out deceit in boardroom meetings. He looked deep into Elena’s eyes—and saw no malice, only raw, desperate truth.
Yet, years of manipulation had clouded his judgment. He turned toward the hallway.
"Mrs. Gable! Call security!" Sebastian ordered, his voice echoing through the mansion.
"No, Mr. Whitmore," Elena said, her voice ringing out with absolute authority, stopping Mrs. Gable in her tracks at the doorway. "Don't call security. Call your private security chief, Marcus Vance, and tell him to pull the estate’s exterior and interior security hard drives from the night Caroline died. And more importantly... look at the tablet on the nursery desk."
Sebastian frowned. "What tablet?"
May you like
"The smart-home automation tablet," Elena said, pointing toward the corner. "It records motion, audio logs, and voice commands in every room. If Mrs. Caldwell thinks she can silence me, she forgot that this house records everything."
Vanessa’s face finally lost all color. The mask shattered completely.
