Chapter 7 - The Safe Haven
The Castiglione estate was a breathtaking mansion nestled in the quiet, secure suburbs of Lake Forest, surrounded by towering iron gates and lush green forests. It was a fortress, but inside, Clara helped transform it into a home.
The nursery was filled with soft blues, creams, and warm light. Clara spent her days coordinating Leo's care, but increasingly, her evenings were spent with Dominic.
They would sit on the back terrace, talking about their pasts, their dreams, and a future that felt brighter with every passing day. Dominic began to systematically dismantle the violent, illicit sectors of his family's empire, transitioning the Castiglione name entirely into legitimate real estate, shipping, and philanthropic ventures.
"I want Leo to grow up proud of his name," Dominic told Clara one night as they shared a bottle of wine under the stars. "I don't want him to live in the shadows of the past. You gave me the strength to make this change, Clara."
