The trial was long and exhausting. The Vales were charged with human trafficking, illegal experimentation, and attempted murder. The evidence we provided—the intake photos, the laboratory logs, the internal communications—left them with no defense.

But the hardest part was what came after. The media swarm, the doctors who wanted to study us, the foster system that wanted to put us in another ‘home.’
