Chapter 9 - A New Chapter

As the sun began to set behind the Greenwich hills, casting a golden hue over the estate, the guests slowly began to depart. The lawn was quiet once more, littered with colorful balloons and remnants of a celebration filled with genuine joy.

Clara and Ethan sat on the wide stone veranda, watching the evening breeze rustle through the oak trees. Inside the house, the babies were fast asleep in their rooms—silent, peaceful, and secure.

"You know," Clara said softly, resting her chin in her hand, "Nora would have been so proud of you."

Ethan looked out across the lawn, feeling a profound sense of peace settle deep into his bones. The crushing guilt that had haunted him for months was gone, replaced by the enduring memory of his wife and the vibrant future of his children.

"I couldn't have done it without you, Clara," Ethan said, turning to look at her. "You saved us."

Ethan reached out, placing his hand over hers. There were no corporate contracts to sign, no financial projections to review, and no complex negotiations to win. For the first time in his life, Ethan Caldwell had everything he ever needed right where he belonged.
