Chapter 10 - The Masterpiece of Tomorrow

Three years later, the gardens of the Whitfield estate were decorated with bright banners, balloons, and the sound of children's laughter. It was Sophia’s fifth birthday.

Sophia ran across the grass, her curly hair flying behind her, wearing a beautiful blue dress. She was chasing a golden retriever puppy that Daniel had surprised her with that morning.

Daniel stood on the patio, his arm wrapped securely around Maria’s waist. Maria’s head rested on his shoulder, her hand gently caressing her rounded belly—they were expecting a baby boy in the spring, a natural miracle that their doctors had called a beautiful impossibility.

"She looks so happy," Maria whispered, watching Sophia laugh as the puppy licked her cheek.

"She is happy because she has the best mother in the world," Daniel said, kissing the side of Maria's head.

He looked up at the clear blue sky, feeling a profound sense of peace. He knew Claire was looking down on them, smiling, happy that her unfinished miracle had brought together two lost souls to create a beautiful, unbreakable family.

Sophia ran up the patio steps, panting, and hugged both of their legs.

"Mommy! Daddy! Look what I found in the garden!" she chirped, holding up a perfect, blooming white orchid.

Daniel knelt down, taking the flower and placing it gently behind Sophia’s ear. He kissed her forehead, then looked up at Maria, his heart overflowing with gratitude for the day a tiny toddler ran into his arms and changed his world forever.

"It's beautiful, sweetheart," Daniel whispered. "Just like our family."
