Chapter 8 - Echoes of Redemption

In the hospital laboratory, Dr. Vance and his team analyzed the detailed data from Michael's drive. Within two hours, they synthesized a targeted binding agent capable of neutralizing the degraded X-12 molecules in Emma's bloodstream.

"Come back to me, baby," I whispered, kissing her cold forehead. "Please, Emma. Mom is right here."

Emma’s eyelashes fluttered.

She turned her head slowly toward me, her voice a faint, delicate whisper. "Mom?"

Tears burst from my eyes as I squeezed her hand tightly. "I'm here, sweetie! I'm right here!"

"My head doesn't hurt as much..." she breathed softly.

Dr. Vance checked her vitals, a long, emotional sigh of relief escaping his chest. "The toxin is neutralizing. She's going to make it, Sarah. She's going to be okay."
