Chapter 3 - The Tables Turn

"Secure the premises," the lead police officer commanded, flashing a badge before looking directly at Julian. "Mr. Vance, we received your automated distress signal and geolocator ping. Are you and Mrs. Vance alright?"

"My wife has sustained severe physical trauma, assault, and battery at the hands of these individuals," Julian replied coldly, cradling me securely against him. "Every single adult in this room is an accessory or a direct perpetrator. Arrest them all."

"Wait! You can't do that!" Mark shouted, stepping forward with an indignant flush on his face. "This is a private family matter! She's our daughter and sister! We have rights! You can't just call the police on us over a family dispute!"

Julian stopped, turning his head slightly to look at Mark with utter disdain. "Rights? You forfeited any claim to human decency the moment you stood by and watched an injured woman get beaten with her own medical equipment. Officer, add obstruction of justice and failure to render aid to their charges."

"No, please! Please don't arrest us!" Rachel shrieked, dropping to her knees in front of Julian, completely abandoning her previous arrogance. "It was all a mistake! Clara, tell your husband it was just a joke gone wrong! Please, Clara, we're family!"

I winced in pain, leaning my head against Julian's shoulder. "Family?" I repeated bitterly, my voice raspy. "When you pushed me into the cake, Rachel, and told my father I deserved to be beaten... did you think of me as family? When you all stood there watching him swing the crutch... where was your family loyalty?"

Rachel paled, shrinking back as the two officers in black suits—Julian's personal legal team—stepped past the police and handed documents to the authorities.

"Mr. Vance," one of the attorneys said respectfully, "we have already pulled the security footage from the smart doorbell and the living room camera that Mrs. Vance installed for her own safety. Every single blow, every insult, and every instance of complicity is recorded in high definition."

Arthur’s face turned the color of ash. He looked from the police officers to the legal team, and finally to Julian. The realization of what he had destroyed—not just a relationship, but an empire of financial support—finally crashed down on him.

"Julian... son... please," Arthur whimpered, taking a tentative step forward. "We didn't know. If we knew you were a billionaire, we would have treated Clara like a queen! You know how it is, family stresses—"

"Do not call me son," Julian interrupted, his voice cutting through the room like a razor blade. "And as for your financial situation... let's talk about that right now."

Julian motioned to his second attorney, who casually opened a leather portfolio.

"Arthur Vance," the attorney read aloud in a crisp, clear voice, "as of three minutes ago, Vance Enterprises has officially called in the two-million-dollar emergency loan currently keeping your manufacturing company afloat. Furthermore, we have rescinded the commercial real estate leases on your three warehouse properties. Effective immediately, your company is bankrupt, and your assets are frozen."

A collective gasp echoed through the room. Mark collapsed onto the sofa, burying his head in his hands. "No... no, that's impossible... our business... our life's work..."

"Your life's work was built on cruelty, extortion, and parasitic exploitation of the person you considered the black sheep of the family," Julian stated flatly. "Officer, take them away. I want them processed immediately, and I will personally ensure they are denied bail."

As the handcuffs clicked onto Arthur's wrists, followed by Mark and Rachel, the reality of their downfall set in. They had traded genuine love, loyalty, and millions of dollars of hidden support for petty cruelty and blind arrogance.

And as Julian carried me out the front door toward the waiting medical transport, I knew their nightmare—and my liberation—had only just begun.
