Chapter 1 - The Shattered Silence

The birthday cake hit the floor with a loud crash.
Pink frosting splattered across my dress as I lost my balance and slammed into the dessert table.
For a split second, the room went silent.
Then my sister-in-law, Rachel, pointed at me and screamed.
"You ruined my son's birthday!"
I stared at her in shock.
"You pushed me!"
But no one answered.
Instead, my father marched across the room with anger burning in his eyes.
"You always have to make everything about yourself," he shouted.
I tightened my grip on my crutch.
"I didn't do anything!"
Before I could take another step, he yanked the crutch out from under me.
My injured leg gave out instantly.
I crashed hard onto the hardwood floor.
Pain shot through my hip.
"Dad... stop..."
Instead of helping me, he raised my own crutch.
The first blow struck the side of my head.
A sharp pain exploded through my skull.
I screamed.
Someone gasped.
Children started crying.
But nobody moved.
My father lifted the crutch again.
"You owe your nephew an apology!"
Another hit landed across my shoulder.
I curled into a ball, trying to protect myself.
Rachel folded her arms.
"She deserves it," she muttered.
Blood dripped onto the floor beside my hand.
I couldn't believe this was happening in front of my entire family.
"Please..." I whispered.
No one came to help.
Then—
The front door suddenly burst open.
Every conversation stopped.
My father froze with the crutch still in his hands.
Rachel's face instantly lost all color.
Everyone turned toward the entrance.
Standing there was the one person none of them expected to see.
And the moment my father recognized him...
May you like
He slowly let the crutch fall from his hands.
The stranger didn't raise his voice or rush into the room. He simply looked at the broken cake, the blood on the floor, and the frightened faces around him. Somehow, that silent look terrified my family more than any shout ever could.
