Chapter 10 - A New Horizon
The autumn wind rustled through the maple trees outside the grand estate, carrying the crisp scent of fallen leaves and new beginnings.
A sleek black town car idled at the front entrance of Vance Manor, its engine purring softly. The driver stood by the rear door, holding a shiny new luggage set, waiting patiently.
Naomi stood on the front steps, adjusting the strap of her backpack. The heavy weight of rent anxiety, medical debt, and midnight terrors felt like something belonging to a completely different lifetime. She looked back toward the grand doorway, where Julian and Chloe stood side by side, watching her off.
"You don't have to leave today, you know," Julian said with a warm, gentle smile, walking down the steps toward her. "The guest suite is yours for as long as you want it. And Vance Robotics has plenty of positions opening up in our corporate strategy division once you finish your degree."
Naomi smiled back, shaking her head. "As tempting as a personal bunker and a billionaire landlord sound, I have an eight o'clock lecture tomorrow morning. And an apartment lease I need to go settle."
Julian chuckled softly, stepping closer. He extended a hand, but instead of a formal shake, he pulled her into a brief, warm embrace. "Thank you, Naomi Reyes. For everything. You'll always have a home here."
Chloe ran forward and wrapped her arms around Naomi's waist, squeezing tightly. "Come back and visit soon, Jacket Lady!"
"I promise I will, Chloe," Naomi whispered, kissing the top of the little girl's head.

She climbed into the back of the town car, rolling down the window to wave one last time as the vehicle smoothly navigated down the long, private driveway, passing through the newly repaired iron gates and out into the bright, sunlit world beyond.
She had missed her last bus fourteen days ago, and it had turned out to be the exact moment her real life finally began.
