Chapter 7 - Healing and Rising

Healing wasn't just about destroying Adrian; it was about rebuilding Elara.
I spent the next six months at my family’s estate in the Swiss Alps, surrounded by crisp air, towering mountains, and the unconditional love of my father. The physical scars on my back faded into pale, silvery lines. They were no longer marks of shame, but battle scars of a survivor.
I stopped hiding. I took my rightful place as the Vice Chairwoman of Sterling Conglomerate. I wore power suits that commanded respect, I spoke in boardrooms that controlled global markets, and I launched a global foundation dedicated to helping victims of domestic abuse find financial independence.
It was at a charity gala for this very foundation that I met Julian.
Julian Cross was a self-made architect. He didn't care about my last name. He didn't care about my money. We met when he accidentally spilled champagne on my shoe and spent five minutes intensely apologizing while cracking jokes that made me laugh until my ribs hurt—a good kind of hurt.
He was gentle. He had warm, kind eyes. When we started dating, he didn't try to diminish my light to make himself shine brighter, the way Adrian had. Julian stood beside me, cheering me on, proud to hold the hand of a powerful woman.
When I finally told him about my scars, he didn't flinch. He traced them with infinite gentleness and kissed each one.

"They show you survived," he whispered. "They show you're a warrior. And I am honored to love a warrior."
For the first time in my life, I felt truly safe.
