Chapter 10 - The Crown She Deserved

The wedding was nothing like my first one.
There were no stuffy corporate board members to impress. There were no false smiles or hidden agendas. We held it in the gardens of the Swiss estate, surrounded only by genuine friends, loyal family, and the breathtaking beauty of the mountains.
I wore a gown of flowing silk and delicate lace, specifically designed with an open, plunging back. I didn't hide my scars. I displayed them proudly. They were a part of my story, a testament to the fire I had walked through to get to this paradise.
My father walked me down the aisle, wiping a rogue tear from his eye.
"I am so proud of you, my girl," he whispered before placing my hand in Julian's.
"Thank you, Dad," I whispered back.
As Julian and I exchanged our vows under a canopy of white roses, I looked out at the people who loved me. I had once been a girl who diminished herself to fit into a small, cruel man's world. I had allowed myself to be a silent accessory, a hidden bank account, a punching bag.
No more.
I was Elara Sterling. I was a CEO, a daughter, a survivor, and now, a truly beloved wife. I had taken the worst life could throw at me and used it to forge an unbreakable armor.
Later that evening, as the reception hummed with music and laughter, I slipped away for a quiet moment. I stood before a grand antique mirror in the hallway, looking at my reflection.
The scars on my back caught the warm light of the chandeliers. Beside them, the sapphire on my finger sparkled with promises of tomorrow. I wasn't just unbroken; I was magnificent.

Adrian had tried to destroy me with a riding crop and cruel words. Instead, he had only chipped away the stone, revealing the diamond underneath.
I smiled at my reflection, raised my chin, and walked back into the light, ready to rule the empire that was always meant to be mine.
