Chapter 10 - A New Dawn of Freedom

Two years later.
The balcony where Emma had once sat in the cold was now a vibrant garden filled with blooming yellow roses, dwarf citrus trees, and a tiny wooden playhouse built custom for a happy five-year-old girl.
The sun was warm as I stepped out onto the terrace with two cups of fresh berry juice.
Emma was giggling, running around in a bright yellow sundress, showing her new artwork to my parents, who had moved closer to town to help support us. Her laughter was bright, loud, and completely unfettered—the sound of a child who knew she was cherished beyond measure.
My career had thrived exponentially without the emotional weight of a predatory family holding me down. I had been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer, launched my own venture capital fund supporting women-led enterprises, and built a secure, unbreakable trust fund that guaranteed Emma’s future for generations to come.
As I sat down on the comfortable outdoor lounge chair, feeling the warm sunlight on my skin, Emma ran over and jumped into my lap, pressing her soft cheek against mine.
"Mommy, look!" she beamed, holding up a bright painting of our home under a big golden sun. "It's us!"
"It's beautiful, sweetie," I smiled, kissing her forehead. "Just like our life."
