Chapter 10 - The Warmth of a New Dawn

A year later, on a sun-drenched afternoon in the South of France, church bells rang across the coastal town of Éze.

The cliffside terrace overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean Sea was decorated with hundreds of white roses and sweet-scented lavender. Friends, international colleagues, and loved ones were gathered under the clear blue sky, laughing and drinking vintage champagne.

Evelyn stood before a full-length mirror inside the villa. She wore an exquisite lace wedding gown that flowed gently around her, her hair adorned with delicate pearls. Her face was bright, full of peace, confidence, and radiant happiness.

There was a soft knock at the door. Gabriel walked in, wearing a sharp navy tuxedo. He stopped in his tracks, his eyes filling with emotion as he looked at her.

"You take my breath away, mon amour," Gabriel whispered, taking her hands gently into his and kissing them.

"I’m ready," Evelyn smiled, her heart full.

Together, they walked out onto the sunlit terrace to the sound of violins. As they exchanged their vows under the warm Mediterranean sun, Evelyn looked into Gabriel’s eyes and saw her true home—a place of honor, loyalty, and unconditional love.

When the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Gabriel pulled her into a tender, passionate kiss while the guests erupted into applause.

Later that evening, as stars filled the night sky over the ocean, Evelyn stood on the terrace with a glass of champagne, resting her head against Gabriel’s shoulder as his arm wrapped securely around her waist.

She remembered the cold snow of Chicago, the slippers pushed under the console table, and the cruel words of people who thought they could break her.

She had walked out of the darkness and built her own sun.

Evelyn smiled, closed her eyes, and leaned into the warmth of her beautiful new life.
