Chapter 6 - THE PRICE OF ARROGANCE

"What do you want from us, Eleanor?" Richard whispered, his voice completely broken. The arrogance that had defined him my entire life was completely extinguished. "What do we have to do? Do you want us to beg? Do you want us on our knees?"

" begging won't fix this, Dad," I said calmly. "You made choices. For years, you chose to push me out. You chose to pretend Lily didn't exist because she didn't fit your polished image. You chose to violence last night."

Alexander walked over to my side, handing a legal folder to Gabriel, who stepped forward and presented it to my father.

"What is this?" Richard asked with trembling hands as he opened the folder.

"That is the full purchase agreement for Hayes Logistics," Alexander explained in a matter-of-fact tone. "Vance Global has purchased your debt and absorbed your company's assets. You are no longer the CEO, Richard. You are no longer on the board. You are officially retired, with zero severance."

Richard stared at the paper, his hands shaking so violently he nearly dropped it. "You... you stripped me of my own company..."

"And this," Gabriel said, handing a second document to my mother, "is the eviction notice for the family estate in the countryside. The property is now registered solely under the name of Eleanor Vance. You have forty-eight hours to remove your personal belongings."

Irina let out a horrified gasp, clutching her chest as if she were having a heart attack. "My house? My mother's house? Eleanor... you can't throw your mother out onto the street!"

"I am not throwing you onto the street," I replied, looking at her with cold pity. "Alexander has arranged for a small two-bedroom apartment in the suburban district to be rented under your name for one year. Rent is pre-paid. After that year, you will need to find jobs to support yourselves. Just like I had to when you kicked me out four years ago with less than a hundred dollars in my bank account."

"A two-bedroom apartment?!" Chloe screamed, her voice shrill and full of indignation. "In the suburbs?! How am I supposed to live there?! What about my life?! What about my social standing?!"

"You can get a job, Chloe," I said firmly, meeting her tear-filled eyes without a trace of sympathy. "You have a college degree that our parents paid for while I was working two night-shifts to buy formula for Lily. It's time you learned what real life feels like."

"You monster!" Irina shrieked, her mask slipping back into pure rage. "You vile, ungrateful brat! We raised you! We gave you life! And you destroy your family over a fountain? Over a stupid dress?!"

Alexander stepped forward instantly, his presence radiating an intensity so overwhelming that Irina instinctively took three steps backward, her jaw snapping shut.

"You have five seconds to turn around and leave my home," Alexander said, his voice dropping to a low, lethal rumble. "If you ever raise your voice to my wife again, or if any of you come within a hundred yards of my daughter, I will not stop at financial ruin. I will ensure every regulatory agency in this country scrutinizes every tax filing, every lie, and every bribe your family has ever made over the last twenty years. Am I clear?"

Richard grabbed Irina and Chloe by their arms, his face pale with absolute terror. He knew Alexander wasn't making empty threats.

"We're leaving," Richard choked out, tears finally spilling down his weathered face. "We're leaving right now."

They turned and walked into the elevator, their shoulders slouched, their lives dismantled not by an act of cruelty, but by the weight of their own arrogance finally catching up to them.
