Chapter 6 - The Unraveling of the Sterling Men

With the patriarch in handcuffs and the corporate empire reduced to digital ash, the illusion of invulnerability that protected Jasper and Kyle completely shattered.

Kyle was still pinned to the floor by the tactical operative, his face pressed against the cold marble. All the arrogant bluster that had made him feel like a giant while holding down an eight-year-old boy was completely gone. Now, he was just a terrified, pathetic man whimpering for mercy.

"Please!" Kyle cried out, his voice cracking as the zip-ties were yanked tight around his wrists. "It was just a prank! Dad told us to scare him! We didn't mean to hurt him that bad!"

"You didn't mean to hurt him?" I spoke through the speaker system, my voice dripping with controlled fury. "When a grown man slams a child's head into gravel, that isn't a prank, Kyle. That is attempted murder."

Jasper was shoved down onto his knees beside his brother, his expensive silk tie dangling uselessly against his chest. "Alexander, listen to me," Jasper pleaded, looking wildly around the room as if searching for an escape route that no longer existed. "We can settle this. Take whatever you want from the estate. Take the cars, take the accounts, just don't do this!"

"I don't want your money, Jasper," I replied quietly. "Money can't heal a child's concussion. Money can't erase the look in my son's eyes when he whispered that his grandfather told him I wasn't coming back."

The lead operative stepped forward, communicating directly with me through the secure channel. "Commander, local law enforcement units dispatched by our decoy calls are arriving at the perimeter. They've been redirected by our tactical overlay to take custody of the targets."

"Let them in," I ordered. "Make sure the arresting officers have the complete digital dossier of financial fraud, tax evasion, and witness intimidation compiled over the last twenty years. Ensure there are no loopholes for them to wiggle through."

"Understood," the operative said.

A moment later, the flashing red and blue lights of Birchwood police cruisers flooded the front lawn through the shattered doorway. Bewildered local officers poured into the foyer, only to find the notorious Sterling family already handcuffed, subdued, and surrounded by heavily armed professionals who vanished into the night before the local badges could even ask a single question.
