Chapter 5 - The Corporate Execution

While the tactical team secured the Sterling mansion, a second operation was unfolding across downtown Birchwood. Sterling Industries occupied a gleaming twenty-story glass tower that dominated the city skyline—a monument to Arthur Sterling's ruthless business empire.
At 9:00 PM, while the financial markets in Tokyo and London prepared to open for the new trading day, my financial strike team initiated Project Goliath.
In corporate suites around the world, automated algorithms triggered by my old security clearance began executing pre-positioned financial maneuvers. Sterling Industries' primary lines of credit were instantly recalled by international banking syndicates. Shell companies used to funnel bribes and hide illicit real estate acquisitions were systematically flagged for federal money laundering investigations.
By 9:15 PM, the Securities and Exchange Commission's automated fraud detection systems locked every single corporate account associated with Arthur Sterling.
Inside the corporate headquarters, the night-shift security guards watched in stunned silence as the electronic lobby displays flickered from glowing company logos to a stark, unyielding message: THIS ASSET HAS BEEN SEIZED UNDER FEDERAL INVESTIGATION FOR ORGANIZED CRIME AND CHILD ABUSE COMPLICITY.
Back at the Birchwood estate, Arthur Sterling's cell phone—which had been forcibly un-jammed by the tactical team and handed to him—began to ring incessantly.
Arthur stared at the screen with trembling fingers. The first call was from the Chief Financial Officer of Sterling Industries, screaming in panic that all corporate accounts had been frozen and federal agents were already surrounding the downtown headquarters.
The second call was from the lead bank lending officer, informing him that his entire commercial real estate portfolio had been called in for immediate full repayment—totaling over one hundred and twenty million dollars.
The third call was from the Mayor of Birchwood, desperately trying to distance himself from the Sterling family before the federal subpoenas landed on his desk.
Arthur let the phone slip from his fingers. It clattered against the marble floor, the screen cracking as it hit the stone.

"You're... you're ruining us," Arthur whispered, staring blankly at the lead operative. "Do you have any idea what kind of men we know? Politicians, judges, governors—"
"They don't know you anymore, Mr. Sterling," the operative replied coldly, snapping handcuffs onto Arthur's wrists with a sharp, metallic click. "To them, you never existed."
