Chapter 10 - Forever and Always

Ten years later, the Hudson Valley estate was filled with the vibrant sound of music, laughter, and family.
It was Lily’s tenth birthday. The sprawling lawns were decorated with fairy lights, long wooden banquet tables laden with food, and children running through the gardens playing tag under the golden light of a summer sunset.
Ava stood on the stone terrace, watching Lily—now a bright, athletic, and fiercely intelligent young girl—laughing with her friends near the fountain.
Nicholas walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and resting his chin gently against her hair. He inhaled the familiar scent of cedar and vanilla that always followed her.
"She's growing up too fast," Nicholas murmured, watching their daughter masterfully score a goal in a backyard soccer match.
"She's growing up strong," Ava corrected gently, turning in his arms to lean back against his chest. "Because she was taught that love isn't conditional on what you achieve, but on who you are."
Nicholas smiled, tightening his embrace. He looked out over the estate—the thriving philanthropic foundation, the secure and peaceful home they had built together, and the family that anchored his soul.
"Remember that night in the snow outside the hospital?" Nicholas asked softly, his voice carrying a warm nostalgia.
"I could never forget it," Ava replied, turning her face up to kiss his cheek. "It was the coldest night of my life."

"And the beginning of mine," Nicholas whispered, pressing his lips to hers as the sun set completely over the horizon, painting the New York sky in brilliant shades of gold and amber.
They had conquered the darkness, outsmarted the greed of the past, and built an empire of genuine, unshakeable love—a happy ending that would last for all their days to come.
