Chapter 8 - A Family United

The wedding ceremony took place six months later, not in a stuffy, pretentious ballroom filled with fake socialites, but in a sun-drenched botanical conservatory upstate, surrounded by the people who truly loved and supported us.

There were no snobs, no toxic relatives, and no cruel judgments. Just close friends, colleagues from the hospital, Daniel’s loyal legal team, and an abundance of laughter and warmth.

As I walked down the aisle in a simple, elegant ivory gown designed by an independent artist I met through my hospital charity work, I caught sight of Daniel standing at the altar. He looked breathtaking in his classic tuxedo, but it was the look of absolute, soul-deep devotion in his eyes that took my breath away.

Standing right beside him as his best man—or rather, ring bearer assistant—was Ethan, wearing a miniature tuxedo with a bright blue bow tie. As I reached the altar, Ethan eagerly handed the velvet ring box to Daniel, whispering loudly enough for the front row to hear: "Mommy looks like a princess, doesn't she?"

Everyone chuckled softly, and Daniel beamed, glancing down at Ethan before looking back up at me.

"She really does, buddy," Daniel replied softly.

The ceremony was intimate, filled with heartfelt vows that brought tears to the eyes of nearly everyone in attendance. When the officiant pronounced us husband and wife, Daniel pulled me into a deep, passionate kiss as applause and cheers erupted through the glass conservatory.

At the reception dinner, there was no head table filled with cruel insults or stinging barbs. Instead, guests shared stories, danced under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights, and celebrated the birth of a genuinely happy family.

When it was time for the first dance, Daniel scooped Ethan up into his arms for the first thirty seconds of the song, spinning him around while the little boy laughed with pure delight, before handing him off to me for a sweet family embrace.
