Chapter 9 - Rebuilding from the Ashes
With the past behind them and the future shining bright, Rodrigo took steps to ensure that his life would never return to the cold, lonely isolation of before.
He established the Aurora Foundation—a multi-million-euro charitable initiative dedicated to providing childcare, safe housing, and employment opportunities for single mothers struggling in Madrid. Estela was named the director of the foundation, allowing her to use her empathy and lived experience to transform thousands of lives.
The news of the billionaire's sudden shift into philanthropy and family life amazed the business world. Magazines that had once called him "The Obsidian Titan" now featured stories about his incredible personal transformation and his devotion to his new family.
One evening, as winter approached, Rodrigo gathered Estela and Aurora in the grand living room of the La Moraleja estate.
A warm fire crackled in the fireplace, casting a golden light across the room.
Rodrigo walked over to Estela, taking both of her hands in his.
"Estela," Rodrigo said, his voice soft, steady, and filled with deep love. "When you walked into my office months ago, desperate and terrified, you thought I was giving you a second chance. But the truth is... you and Aurora gave me mine."
Estela looked up at him, her heart beating fast, tears shimmering in her eyes.
"You brought light into a life that was completely dark," Rodrigo continued, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small velvet box. "I don't want to live another day without you and Aurora by my side. I don't want this to just be my house—I want it to be our home."
He opened the velvet box, revealing a breathtaking diamond ring that sparkled in the firelight.
"Estela de Vasconcellos, will you marry me?"
Estela covered her mouth, a tear of joy spilling down her cheek. She looked at Rodrigo—the man who had started as a terrifying boss and had become her protector, her best friend, and the love of her life.
"Yes!" Estela cried out softly, throwing her arms around his neck. "Yes, Rodrigo! A thousand times yes!"
