Chapter 9 - New Horizons
Three years later.
On a warm summer afternoon, the grounds of the Vance estate were decorated with white ribbons, fresh lilies, and soft wooden fairy lights hanging from the old oak trees.
Friends, colleagues, and rescued patients from all across the state gathered on the lawn, their laughter echoing through the garden.
In a quiet room on the second floor, Elena stood before a full-length mirror, adjusting the lace sleeves of an elegant, minimalist ivory wedding gown. She looked radiant, her eyes sparkling with genuine happiness and peace.
A soft knock sounded at the door, and four-year-old Leo bounded into the room wearing a tiny navy tuxedo with a silver bow tie.
"Mommy! Look! Uncle Marcus said I’m the official ring captain!" Leo announced proudly, holding up a velvet box with both hands.
Elena knelt down, her gown pooling around her, and tucked a strand of dark hair behind her son’s ear. "You are the best ring captain in the entire world, sweetie."
Marcus walked in behind him, looking sharp in his suit. He looked at his sister, his eyes glistening with proud tears. "Dad would be so proud of you today, El. You rebuilt everything from the ashes, and you did it with complete dignity."
"I didn't do it alone," Elena said, hugging her brother tightly. "I had you."
Down below in the garden, music began to play softly. Marcus offered his arm to Elena, while Leo proudly marched ahead down the rose-petal-covered aisle.
At the end of the altar stood Julian Ross. His face lit up with pure adoration the moment he saw Elena walking toward him.
When Elena reached the altar, Julian took her hand in his, his grip warm, strong, and steady.
"You look breathtaking," Julian whispered.

"I am ready," Elena smiled back.
The ceremony was intimate and beautiful. When the officiant declared them husband and wife, Julian dipped Elena gently, kissing her to the cheers and applause of their closest friends and family. Leo ran up to join them, wrapping his arms around both of their legs, causing the entire crowd to erupt in warm laughter.
