Chapter 9 - The Second Wedding

Six months after the fateful night at the Imperial Reforma Hotel, the heavy iron gates of the Robles estate swung open once more—not for a cold, society-driven birthday gala, but for a celebration of genuine love, redemption, and rebirth.
There were no politicians eager to network, no superficial investors whispering behind champagne flutes, and no towering, intimidating orchids designed to impress a crowd.
Instead, the lawn was bathed in the warm, golden glow of hundreds of fairy lights strung through the oak trees. Long wooden tables were adorned with wildflowers, simple candles, and plates of rich, authentic Mexican cuisine prepared by local chefs whom Lucía and Alejandro personally selected.
Only true friends, trusted colleagues, and loyal staff filled the garden.
At the altar beneath a canopy of white roses, Alejandro stood waiting in a classic black tuxedo, his heart hammering against his ribs just as it had the very first time he saw Lucía years ago.
Then, the soft strains of acoustic guitar music began to play.
Lucía walked down the aisle on the arm of Don Eusebio, who wore a proud, tearful smile that reached all the way to his eyes. She wore a simple, elegant ivory silk gown that hugged her healthy, graceful frame. Her hair fell in soft, natural waves, and her smile radiated a quiet, luminous beauty that outshone any diamond ever mined.
Walking just ahead of her, scattering pink rose petals across the green grass with joyful concentration, was Sofía, wearing a matching miniature ivory dress with a flower crown resting on her dark braids.
As Lucía reached the altar, Alejandro took her hands in his. They were no longer rough and trembling; they were warm, steady, and alive.
“I made a vow to you years ago,” Alejandro whispered, his voice trembling slightly with emotion as the gathered guests watched in loving silence. “And though the world tried to tear us apart in the dark, today I pledge my soul, my heart, and every breath I take to you and our daughter, for the rest of my days.”
May you like
Lucía smiled, a tear slipping down her cheek as she squeezed his hands. “And I choose you, Alejandro. Yesterday, today, and forever.”
When the officiant pronounced them husband and wife anew, Alejandro pulled Lucía into a deep, passionate embrace, sealing their covenant beneath the open sky while Sofía cheered loudly from the front row, throwing her remaining rose petals into the air like confetti.
