Chapter 10 - A New Sunrise

Five years later, the morning sun rose over Mexico City, casting a golden light across the skyline.
Inside the Robles estate, the kitchen was filled with the warm, comforting scent of sizzling bacon, fresh coffee, and sweet cinnamon pastries.
At the long wooden breakfast table, nine-year-old Sofía was excitedly chattering about her upcoming school science project, gesturing animatedly with a half-eaten strawberry waffle in her hand.
“And then Mr. Gomez said my volcano model was the best in the entire fourth grade!” Sofía beamed, her dark eyes sparkling with youthful energy and absolute security.
Lucía, sitting across from her with a serene, happy smile, handed her daughter a napkin. “Slow down, my little engineer. You’re going to talk so fast you’ll forget to eat.”
Alejandro sat at the head of the table, sipping his coffee while watching his wife and daughter with a heart overflowing with a peace he once thought impossible. He wore a comfortable knit sweater instead of his usual business armor.
Across town, Doña Teresa lived quietly in a modest coastal residence in Acapulco, her immense wealth severely curtailed by legal settlements and court-mandated restitution funds. She lived in isolation, surrounded by the cold marble walls of her own making, realizing too late that power and pride are poor substitutes for the warmth of a family’s love.
But inside this home, ghosts had long since been laid to rest.
After breakfast, Alejandro walked Lucía and Sofía out to the front driveway where the school bus waited with its yellow lights blinking softly in the morning air.
Sofía gave her father a fierce, crushing hug around the waist before climbing up the bus steps. She turned around at the top, waving enthusiastically.
“Bye, Daddy! Bye, Mommy!”
“Have a wonderful day, sweetheart! We love you!” Lucía called out, waving back with a radiant smile.
As the school bus pulled away down the tree-lined street, Alejandro slid his arm around Lucía’s waist, pulling her close against his side. She leaned her head comfortably against his shoulder, watching the morning traffic flow past.
The past was a scar that had healed over, leaving behind strength rather than pain. They had walked through the deepest shadows, fought through the darkest lies, and emerged into a sunrise that would never fade.
“Are you ready for the board meeting this morning?” Lucía asked softly, glancing up at him with a playful glint in her eyes.
May you like
Alejandro smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to her temple as the morning breeze rustled the leaves above them.
“The company runs itself when you have the right foundation,” Alejandro said, looking down at his wife with complete devotion. “And my foundation has never been stronger.”
