Chapter 9 - Healing and Justice

Three days later, the Grand Regent Hotel was operating under a completely new management team appointed directly by Ethan Vance and overseen by federal auditors. The corrupt board members were locked in federal detention awaiting trial with no possibility of bail, and Viktor faced capital murder charges tied to Sarah's fatal crash on the highway.
The lobby of the hotel buzzed with a different kind of energy now—an energy of genuine hospitality, respect, and renewal.
Ethan stood by the concierge desk, dressed comfortably in his everyday clothes, holding Lily's small hand as she clutched a brand-new coloring book.
Lupita walked over from the service corridor, wearing her supervisor uniform with a bright, proud smile. The hotel management had officially promoted her to Director of Guest Services and Staff Welfare, complete with a permanent salary increase and full pension recognition.
"Mr. Vance... Ethan," Lupita said warmly, handing Lily a small sticker sheet. "The federal investigators finished downloading the final legacy archives. They said Sarah's audit work was so thorough, it will actually help recover millions of dollars that were embezzled from community charities over the last decade."
Ethan smiled, kneeling down to look at Lily, who was happily sticking a colorful star onto the cover of her book.
"Your momma would have been so proud," Ethan whispered, brushing a stray lock of hair from Lily's forehead.
Lily looked up with her bright, innocent eyes, beaming at her father. "Momma is watching us, Daddy. See? The sun is shining right on us."
Ethan looked up toward the grand glass atrium above the lobby. A single beam of brilliant sunlight cut through the glass, illuminating the center of the marble floor where they stood.

Later that afternoon, Ethan and Lily walked down to the peaceful hotel memorial garden—a tranquil courtyard filled with blooming white lilies and a newly installed bronze plaque bearing Sarah’s name, honoring her courage, her brilliance, and her unwavering dedication to the truth.
Ethan gently placed a fresh bouquet of red roses—with no crushed petals this time—right beside the bronze engraving.
