Chapter 6 - Unmasking the Truth

"William," Charles said, hiding his shock behind a patronizing smile. "This is a private board meeting. You shouldn't be stressing yourself right now."
"Sit down, Charles," William commanded, his voice ringing through the silent room.
William threw the folder Maria was holding onto the center of the table.
"For three months, I wondered why my daughter’s condition deteriorated so suddenly after her initial minor surgery," William said, staring directly at Rebecca and Charles. "I thought it was fate. But two nights ago, Maria found something in the hospital laundry distribution records."
Rebecca turned pale. "William, what are you talking about?"
"Charles paid off a night-shift technician to alter Grace’s medication dosage records, making her recovery seem hopeless so the medical board would recommend turning off life support," William revealed, his voice steady and cold. "And he used Rebecca’s grief—and her greed—to sign over her trust authority in exchange for offshore accounts."
Chaos erupted in the boardroom. Board members gasped, looking between Charles and the documents spread across the table.
Charles’s face turned crimson. "This is absurd! Fabrication from a grieving madman and a hospital cleaner!"
"The police are waiting downstairs, Charles," William replied calmly. "Along with the technician who just gave his full confession to the District Attorney twenty minutes ago."

Rebecca burst into tears, dropping her face into her hands. Charles stepped back, looking for an exit, but two security officers stepped through the doors, blocking his path.
"Your vote is void, Charles," William said, walking to the head of the table. "And Callaway Investments is staying right where it belongs."
